Over the years, the artist has changed his academic style of the early years, even though a very personal style (see the Oil section of the Website, where there are some of the paintings belonging to that period), into an innovative and ongoing progress way of making art.
In the '70s the artist used the fossilizzazione oggettuale for the oil technique (olioggettografia) through the impressions of the fossilizzazioni on the canvas.
At the end of the '80s, the artist modified the technique of the old tempera (old tempera and oil on canvas) and developed a new figurative cycle. The leit motiv of this new cycle is the search for our roots and traditions, and memory. The technique used for this new cycle is the pen-and-ink technique (pen-and-ink and old tempera).
In the latest years, besides the semina del colore technique, Giovanni Spiniello newly modifies the fossilizzazione oggettuale, turning the olioggettografia into temperaoggettografia. The temperaoggettografia means that the colours gain a new power and the mature chromatism and feature developed during the figurative cycle make his search partly complete.
